Southeast Europe’s burgeoning whistleblower movement has taken another great step with the premiere of the region’s first documentary on whistleblowing. The Medal of the Loud was screened in Belgrade on December 6 before an audience of activists, whistleblowers and policy-makers.
The 35-minute film features Croatian whistleblower Dr. Srećko Sladoljev, Bosnian anti-corruption official Mevludin Džindo and transparency activists Arjan Dyrmishi and Zoran Gavrilović — both founding members of the Southeast Europe Coalition on Whistleblower Protection. The film includes footage of Sladoljev being physically prevented from entering his workplace, the National Institute of Immunology in Zagreb, after he exposed public health concerns about a swine flu vaccine.
This documentary was produced by the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative and supported by the Regional Cooperation Council.
The Southeast Europe Coalition on Whistleblower Protection salutes the filmmakers for their dedication in producing this important film. The Medal of the Loud is available for free public viewing on YouTube.
