BCSP has become part of the Southeast Europe Coalition on Whistleblower Protection

At the annual meeting of the Southeast Europe Coalition on Whistleblower Protection, held on February 3, 2023, in Sarajevo, the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy became a member of this network.

The Southeast Europe Coalition on Whistleblower Protection brings together non-governmental organizations, journalist associations and experts from 12 countries of the region who are dealing with the fight against corruption and the protection of whistleblowers. The goal of this network is to help the citizens of Southeast Europe who want to expose corruption and criminal acts in public and private companies, and to inform the public about malfeasance that harms the public interest and human rights. The work of the Coalition is also aimed at improving the legal framework related to the position of whistleblowers in the countries of Southeast Europe, as well as at strengthening the transparency of the work of public institutions and companies, through advocacy work.

In April 2021, the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy established the Civic Committee for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Whistleblowers, and expand its activities in the field of whistleblower protection, both through public advocacy processes and through the provision of legal and practical assistance. By becoming a member of the heast Europe Coalition on Whistleblower Protection, the BCSP will continue, together with partners in the region, to raise awareness of the position of whistleblowers, to make legal and practical proposals in order to improve the status of whistleblowers, and to provide assistance to those citizens who, because of their activities in the whistleblowing processes are facing retaliation, threats and pressure.
